Put tokens on the map
Make tokens from your own images, place them in a scene and move them.
A token is the picture of a character or creature that you move on the map. The Default collection already has ten character tokens with the tag Class, so you can use those right away or make your own.
Make a token
Press A to open the Asset Manager.
Click the + button at the top right and choose Create Token. The Create tokens window opens.
Drop one or more images anywhere in the window, or click Drop images anywhere to choose files. Each image gets its own card.
Drop character images into the Create tokens window. On each card, type a name and pick a size, from Medium (1×1) to Gargantuan (4×4).
Frame the picture: drag it to move it inside the ring, and scroll to zoom. Double-click to reset. Toggle token ring turns the round frame off, and Atlas then keeps the whole picture as it is.
Move and zoom the picture inside the token ring. Click Create, or press Ctrl + Enter (Cmd + Enter on macOS).
Your new tokens show on the Characters tab.
If you use the Fantasy Statblocks plugin, you can make tokens from your creature notes too. See Use Fantasy Statblocks with Atlas.
Place tokens in the scene
Open the Characters tab in the Asset Manager.
Double-click a token, or right-click it and choose Spawn on Map.
Double-click a token to place it in the scene.
The Asset Manager closes, and the token appears in the middle of your view, on the grid.
To place more than one at once, tick the box in the corner of several token cards. Then right-click one of them and choose Spawn 3 Tokens on Map (the number is how many you selected). For several copies of one token, right-click it and choose Spawn Multiple.
Move and select tokens
Choose Move/Select in the toolbar, or press V.
Drag a token to move it. It snaps to the grid.
Click a token to select it. Hold Shift and click to add tokens to the selection, or to take them out. To select all tokens in a box, drag across an empty part of the map.
Drag one of the selected tokens to move them all, and press Esc to clear the selection.
Remove a token
Select the token and press Delete or Backspace, or right-click it and click Delete.
This only removes the token from the scene, so it stays in the Asset Manager. Press Ctrl + Z (Cmd + Z on macOS) to undo.
Right-click a token to see what else you can do, such as conditions, size and hiding it. See Tokens in detail.
