Atlas VTT

Make things for Atlas

An adventure for the game you love, a statblock template, a theme or a plugin: whatever you make for Atlas is welcome, and you need no permission from us to make it.

What you can make

Collections and adventures

A collection holds the scenes, maps, tokens and encounters of one campaign or adventure. Atlas exports it as one .zip file that another game master imports into their vault, as Share a collection shows. To reach more tables, share it in the Armarium, where game masters find adventures, maps and tokens made for Atlas. Its rules for sharing say what may go into a collection there.

Statblock templates

A template decides what a statblock card holds, like the 5E monster layout or a Cairn creature. You build one in the template editor, and Atlas keeps it as a file in the folder atlas-vtt/statblock-templates. Write statblocks in Atlas shows the editor. A collection you share in the Armarium can hold your templates too.

Themes

Atlas takes its look from Obsidian, so any Obsidian theme changes it, and you can make a theme of your own. The Atlas VTT theme is one made for it, with notes on parchment and ivy on the corners of the Asset Manager.

Plugins and extensions

An Obsidian plugin or a browser extension can work beside Atlas. A character sheet service, for one, can send named dice rolls to the Atlas player page: Connect a character sheet to Atlas shows how, with a starter extension you can copy.

Name it and present it

Give your work a name of its own and put Atlas after “for”: “Lanternlight for Atlas VTT”, never “Atlas Lanternlight”. Open its description and README with this sentence, and put your own support link beside it:

[Name] is a community extension. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Atlas VTT or Atlas Online.

The Brand and extension policy has the rest. A collection you share in the Armarium follows the Armarium’s rules for sharing.

The badge

Work that follows these rules may show the “Compatible with Atlas VTT” badge. The policy says how to show it.

Support

Atlas Online is the only online play we run. What others make is supported by the people who made it, so when it gives you trouble, ask them first.
