About Atlas VTT
Atlas is a virtual tabletop for tabletop role-playing games that runs inside Obsidian. It works with any game system.
Ever since I got into tabletop role-playing games, I have loved them. Nothing in the world is more fun to me. To me they are the greatest form of art, and I love this community with all my heart.
I built Atlas as part of my bachelor's thesis, because I wanted to give that community a virtual tabletop that is open source, hackable and free to use. I do not think a VTT is a cute toy, and it should never be a platform that turns people into living wallets. It should be a professional tool, made with love, for game masters who are serious about the worlds they build.
Those worlds are personal, and we get attached to them. That attachment deserves better than a subscription and someone else's database. So every file Atlas creates, every token, every map, every world, stays yours and stays on your machine, in formats you control, with no account and no server in between. Just like a sheet of paper would. I want you to be in control of what you create.
I also believe that tools should be beautiful. We surround ourselves with them and spend so much of our lives with them, so this matters a lot to me. Atlas is made to feel at home in Obsidian and to keep your attention on the game. If you want another look, any Obsidian theme changes it, and you can make your own.
I will do my best to make Atlas the best version of what it can be, and I will keep developing it for as long as I can. Thank you so much for being here.
