Atlas VTT

Join a table as a player

Open your GM's invite link, sit down at the table and play from your browser.

Your GM runs the game in Atlas and sends you a link. You play in your web browser, on a computer, tablet or phone. You need no Obsidian, no Atlas and no account.

Sit down at the table

  1. Open the link from your GM.

  2. Under Your name, type the name your group knows you by, and click Join.

  3. Under Your code, type the six digits of the join code your GM gave you. If the GM checks who joins, you see "Waiting for the GM to let you in…" until they let you in.

Type your name and the join code, and wait for the GM.
  4. Atlas shows Your player code. Click Copy and keep it somewhere safe, then click I’ve saved it.

Next session, open the same link. The same browser takes you back to your seat. On another device, type your name and then your player code in place of the join code, and you sit down at once. If you lose it, open More in the toolbar and click Your code, or ask your GM.

A browser in private or incognito mode forgets the table when you close it. Your player code still brings you back.

Move your token

Your GM gives you your character's token. Drag it to move it, or press W A S D or the arrow keys to step one cell. On a touch screen, press and hold your token. Its sheet has arrows for the same steps.

Drag your token, then step with the arrow keys.

You can move only the tokens your GM gave you. If you have more than one, choose the one you act with under Your tokens.

Drag the empty map to look around, and scroll or pinch to zoom.

Point and measure

Choose Laser Pointer in the toolbar to point at something for everyone. Laser colour and Laser size are in the same menu.

To measure a distance, choose Line, Circle/Sphere or Cone in the measure menu, or press M. Turn on Persist Measurements to keep your measurements on the map.

Roll dice

Click Roll Dice in the toolbar, or press R. Pick your dice, set the Modifier and click Roll. Your dice are thrown on your screen, and the result shows in the table log.

Roll a d20 from the toolbar.

Talk in the table log

The table log holds the chat and every roll. Open it with the Table log button, or press Enter. Type a message and press Enter to send it.

The table log with a roll and a message.

Type / to see the commands. /r 1d20+5 # Attack rolls dice with a label, /w Kara Hello whispers to Kara, and /gm whispers to the GM. The roll mode button next to the field sets who sees your rolls: Public roll, GM only, Blind (only the GM sees the result) or Only me.

Your book

The tabs of your book open its pages: Table is the map, Inventory holds your items and your purse, Abilities your character's sheet, Notes your own notes and Map the world map of the campaign. On a computer, the keys 1 to 5 switch between them. On a phone, swipe.

The Inventory page of a player's book.

Your notes are kept by your GM, with the campaign, so they are there next session on any device.

On a phone or tablet

In the More menu, Install app… puts the table on your home screen, and Keep screen on stops the screen from going dark while you play. If the map is slow, set Graphics lower.

Leave table… in the same menu takes you away from the table. Your player code brings you back.
