Collection settings
Set the game system, dice rules, measurement, token bars, conditions, creature filters and loot for one collection.
A collection holds the scenes, maps, tokens and encounters of one campaign or adventure. Its settings apply to every scene in it.
Open the settings
Open the Asset Manager. Press A on the map, or click Asset Manager on the dashboard.
Under Collection on the left, choose your collection. The gear button shows only for a single collection, so All Collections has none.
Click the gear button next to the collection name (Collection settings).
The Collection settings button next to the collection menu. Choose a tab on the left. Make your changes, then click Save. Cancel closes the window and keeps nothing.
Game System
A game system sets how the ruler measures distance, which conditions tokens can have, and which bars tokens show. Pick one from the list to apply it. Atlas ships presets for several games, and you can save your own.
When you change the rules on the other tabs, the preset gets an Edited tag. See Game system presets for what each preset sets and what to do with an edited one.
Dice
The Dice tab holds the dice rules of your game: the Default Roll that a bonus in a statblock is added to, the Critical Rule, and Exploding Dice. A game system preset sets them for its game. See Roll dice for what each rule does.
Grid & Measure
These settings decide what the ruler and the drag distance show.
- Unit Type: Feet, Yards, Meters, Units or Custom. Units and Custom show plain numbers.
- Distance per Square: how far one grid square is, for example 5.
- Diagonal Movement: how a diagonal step counts on square grids.
- Every diagonal counts 1 (5e)
- Alternate 1 and 2 (5/10/5)
- Exact distance
- Measurement Mode: Metric shows a distance, like "30ft". Abstract shows the name of a range band, like "Close".
Hex grids always count hex steps, so Diagonal Movement does not change them.
Range bands
Range bands show only in Abstract mode. Each band has a name and the number of squares it reaches.
Click Add Band.
Type a name, for example "Near". Type the largest number of squares the band covers.
The ruler shows the first band that covers the distance, and the last band's name for every distance past the last band. Each band needs a whole number of 1 or more, or you cannot save.
Default Widgets
Turn on HP Bar to show a health bar under tokens. Turn on Secondary resource bar for a second bar, for example stress, sanity or mana.
These two switches change every scene of the collection, including scenes that already exist.
Conditions
Conditions are states you put on tokens, like Poisoned or Frightened. Each one shows as a badge on the token's edge, and hovering the token lists them by name.
Click Add Condition.
Type the name. Click the colour swatch to pick its colour.
Click the badge at the start of the row to choose an icon. Without an icon, the badge shows the first letter of the name.
Click # if the condition carries a number, like Frightened 2 or Exhaustion 3.
To remove a condition, click the bin button (Remove condition). When you save, tokens in every scene of the collection lose the conditions the collection no longer has.
To put conditions on a token, right-click it and open Conditions. See Tokens in detail.
Creature Filters
The Asset Manager can filter the collection's characters by what their linked statblocks say. On this tab you choose those filters.
- Atlas filters: filters Atlas knows, such as challenge rating, level or type. Each row shows how many of the collection's statblocks have that field. Use the switch to turn a filter off.
- Your filters: click Add filter to filter by another statblock field. Give it a label, type the field name, and choose Range for numbers or Options for categories. An options filter can read several fields, separated by commas.
- Other fields in this collection's statblocks: fields your statblocks have that no filter uses yet. Add one with one click.
See Find characters fast for how the filters work in the Asset Manager.
Loot
The loot roller draws items from Obsidian bases. On this tab you choose those bases and name the currency. The loot roller opens the settings on this tab too.
Click Add Loot Base and choose a base. Each base shows how many views and items Atlas found in it. Under Currency, type the word Atlas puts after prices that are plain numbers: "gold" turns 500 into "500 gold".
See Roll loot to set up the item notes and roll.
